To the goal
The match is about to start! Human kid vs. mole. Who will win? Ready to shoot!
Playing with textures, layers and brushes. It was an experiment, but it was really fun to do!! I can't believe I got the idea for this from a small sketch of a boy with his balloon, alone. That's what I was talking about in my post about sketches. You never know what can help you to create a new illustration, even if it's only for a test.
Time to get ready to work again! Yesterdays was not a so productive day, so I need to make up for loss time. Too much to do,
Have fun!!

Running out of coffee
I haven't drawn any of my cups in a while, I missed it a lot!! I need to go back to them slowly, or at least from time to time.
Anyway, back to work! Enough rest. Hope you have a nice start of the week full of energy.
See you!

Time to wake up!
Spring is here!! And these little "flowers" are ready lo blossom and to say hello to you from their pot-house :).
I also made a character design for these little girls, even if you can't see it because of the leaves around them, but as as soon as I get time, I will finish it to show it to you.
Anyway, I really had a lot of fun with it (it was suppossed to be a fast illustration, but I couldn't help myself to keep going with it...). Also, it gave me the excuse to draw this kind of plant pot. It reminds me to my old house, we had some of them with this style back then. So, I decided to post it here now because of spring just started! I thought it was the right moment :)
Nothing else for today! I'm not sure if I will get time to post anything here this weekend so have a nice weekend!!

About sketching
Today I'm busy, so I decided to show some old sketches of illustrations I already finished here, so you can see how some of my illustrations are created.
Sketching is a really important part of the creative process regardless of the artistic discipline. If you have an idea, you need to draw/write it down in a paper as soon as possible. It will help you to visualise what you really want to get, to see if it's viable and what you need to eliminate.
Try not to start working directly with your first idea. Make some little drawings at first. Don't start sketching many detailed illustrations: you need to draw shapes, (like circles or triangles for example) to help yourself to know if your idea is good.
For the illustration of the little girl above, I drew some little representations (and here I only showed two of them) of the idea I wanted to get. Once I decided which composition I wanted, I designed the girl who appeared in it. This final illustration is here.
Sometimes, when I'm not working on something specific or for someone, but more for myself, I like to draw random little sketches of ideas I am getting at the moment. Some of these ideas stay as sketches for a long time (others are finished as soon as I draw them). Later, when I'm cheeking my sketchbook, I decide to start working with them from cero if I feel it's "the right moment".
Always bring a sketchbook with you, you never know when you will get a new idea ;)!
The last illustration is more finished. I wanted to create a character design for a little bird. Just to play with a different style. It's one of those cases where I create the design directly from zero and I decide to start illustrating it directly.
You just need to have fun with what you do, but try to take it seriously. Work with many ideas, compositions, moving components, perspective, etc. Also, if you are working for a client, it will be really appreciated you can show them many possibilities ;)
Long post today!, I hope you have a nice day. See you!!

Wavy sea
Old illustration I made in my old Moleskine in 2012!! I totally forgot to post it here, my bad. It's been a long time since I drew this one, how many memories... :).
I need to go back to draw in my Moleskine as soon as I get to finish some illustrations. I miss how much fun I had with it, and even if its been long since last time I finished it, I still love it so much... my little sketchbook.
Anyway, back to work again!. Today I plan to start a new illustration at least and later to watch a movie.
See you :D

Melting
Again one illustration from one of my newest series. You can find more of this little series, the first one here, and the second one is here. I'm not sure when I will post a new one, but as the weather is getting warmer where I live (at least for now), I couldn't resist to post it now, so... my bad :D.
Nothing else for today, just that I'm working on many things and that I wish I could stop time, you know, it would be great... If not, it would also be really cool I could duplicate myself to be in two places at same time ;).
I feel a little tired but it's time to keep going!
See you! Have fun!!

Surprise visit
Hello little bird! Nice to see you here again!
It's been a week, more or less, since last time I wrote here. Actually, it's been a really busy week... I will tell you calmly about it very soon, I promise, but at least I say I challenged myself with it and that I had fun trying something a little different of the things I'm doing lately. I'm quite happy with the final result :)
Back to work again, I have pending work to finish ;)
Have a nice day!!

Urban message
Why to use technology when you can send a message "by plane". It's more special this way!! :)
It looks like this week I will be really busy. I'm working in something which needs to be finished quickly, and it's taking all my time (sadly I will be at my house today, so less time for it, but I will try my best to finish it as soon as possible to take care of my blog again);. I will tell you as soon as possible about it, but it looks like I won't be able to post anything during this week at least. Luckily I will can the next one.
I'm feeling a little stressful these days, but I'm challenging myself with this work, and I'm also enjoying it at the same time, so I suppose that's what matter.
Nothing else for today, but have fun and really soon something new, I promise ;)!!

Featured in Templum Magazine
Back in 2013, I was asked by Templum Magazine's creators to make an interview for it and to show some of my traditional illustrations I made back then, among many others talented artists. They were really nice and kind and I want to thank to Ediciones Babylon (this magazine is one of their projects) for the oportunity.
The wait was long, but here is my contribution for Templum 10th issue (pages 106-111). It can be read online too, both in English and Spanish :). Also, you can download it for free if you want. Here is more information about how to download this and later issues too.
Nothing else for today, just to tell you that later today, and tomorrow, I will be out to attend a workshop about programming together with many girls. I will let you know about it once it's finished, but for sure tomorrow I won't be able to post anything here, sadly I won't get any time at all...
So, have fun!!

Present: Sweet bunny
One of the presents I wapped for a present last month. Again, the present inside is related with sweets and food ;)
I actually stamped every white dot by hand with acrylics. It was hard, tiring, and time consuming for sure, but I couldn't find a paper with dots on it, so I had to do it by myself... I still remember how much my back hurt while doing it, but at least I could make it on time :)
I drew this little bunny-ice cream and my sister Noemí helped me to sew it really fast, while I stamped the paper (I helped with it too, once I finished with the paper, but most of it is thanks to her). I really had no time to make it myself... I wish I could have. In the back of it, we attached a clasp to make a brooch on it.
Actually, I loved so much this bunny's design I plan on making an illustration with it as soon as possible, with some variations, but more or less, like it was sewn ;)
To "tie" this brooch to to present, I used decorated tape as if it were a rope.
For sure, I enjoyed planning this present, but sadly it was made in a hurry. I'm really glad my sister could help me that much. She really is the best!!. For next time, I want more time, please!!
Nothing more for today! Have fun!

Little chef
I need to test some new pencil colors I got as a present, they are lovely, and I can't wait to use them as soon as I got free time.
Nothing else for today, just that I plan to draw more once this week finish. I feel with energy, and that's a good thing, I want to take advantage of that energy ;)
See you!!

First wingbeat
This little bird is ready to challenge herself to go for an adventure!
With this illustration I wanted to play a little with lines and "flat" colors. It was really fun!! I enjoy this test and I can see these are helping me to improve and to try new things, even if sometimes it can not be seen at first sight, I try to make something new with every illustration I start. It's fun, so for now I will keep this way, even if its slowly :)
Today I feel great, there's something in the air that tells me it will be a good day. New winds have come lately and I can't help to smile and to feel happy because of it.
Anyway, I need a gust of fresh air, and keep going, slowly but without stopping. That's my way, I suppose!
See you ;)!

Wating for your call...
Oh, no... think I'm creating a new series. I couldn't help it. I also can't help to sketch every time I get a new idea for these umbrellas, so... more to come in the future, I suppose.
Last Friday was festive where I live, so I decided to take this day, and the weekend to draw a lot, I can't wait to show you what I'm working on right now :)
Nothing else for today, hope you have a nice start of the week!! Have fun!
