Wavy sea

 

Old illustration I made in my old Moleskine in 2012!! I totally forgot to post it here, my bad. It's been a long time since I drew this one, how many memories... :).

I need to go back to draw in my Moleskine as soon as I get to finish some illustrations. I miss how much fun I had with it, and even if its been long since last time I finished it, I still love it so much... my little sketchbook.

Anyway, back to work again!. Today I plan to start a new illustration at least and later to watch a movie.

Present: Blue jacket

It was one of the last present that some friends and myself made for a friend. I was the one who wrapped and decorated it, again, all this having in mind the present ;)

After looking at many stores, I found this bag which was the perfect color I wanted to find. I drew in the bag a jacket, as if it was the one of a certain character, with its white shirt painted with acrylics. To add dimension, I decided to glue three buttons to it, just like that character's jacket ;)

Inside the bag was the present you can see in the last photo, with a handmade tag.

Could you guess what was the present inside? Its size and specially the bag are a clue ;)

I really had a lot of fun with his one (and it made me remember the one I decorated last year)!! I already have sketched some new ideas to decorate more bags as if they were a jacket or a shirt for future presents. Nothing too complicated but that makes a simple bag turn into a cute one to use from time to time. I can't wait for the next one!

My second Moleskine

Today I decided to make a different post.

Do you remember my second Moleskine? I got it as a present from my sister. Once I finished with my old one, I decided to start with it. I was really surprised when I saw that the new one came with a little... "imperfection".

Yeah, it was... "stabbed" from its front cover through some pages (watercolor pages, I mean, they're not very thin). Because of its rubber-band, my sister didn't see it. Too bad, it was a present and there was no way I could return it to get a new one because I ripped its protector plastic.

Then I thought... why not to take advantage of it? Time to decorate! Nothing complicated, jut simple and cute.

Right after opening it I decided to cover the hole with decorated tape as if it was a strip. But before, I glued a piece of wrapping paper and drew its cord.

For the next page, where you can write your personal information in case of loss, I decided to use one of the lines and continue drawing it to use to tie the hanging cage. This time, this little illustration is more conceptual, the sky is trapped inside the cage, but the birds are flying free away ;)

For the next page, I played again with collage using different papers. The hole hides thanks to the basket.

What do I want to say with it? If you have someday a similar "problem" (as I now know it's not THAT bad), take advantage of it and use your imagination! Thanks to this little "imperfection" I love a lot my second Moleskine, even if it's still not finished.

Here is the illustration I showed you a little detail in yesterday's post. This is the one I scanned with my Epson, though it's a little retouched with Photoshop.

It's done originally with acrilyc, and it's from my old Moleskine, one of the first I drew there, so it's old :).

Work hard!

A little color sketch done with acrylic I forgot I had in my old Moleskine. I actually can't remember where this idea came from... Maybe I just wanted to draw a fox :D.

These days I'm working on something that's making me very happy and motivated. I'm doing my best, so I hope everything will end all right at the end...

Lollipop masks

Something different for today! It's one of the things I told you some post ago I made an improvised photo session :).

Those little masks (or "lollipop" as I called them) was created by hand for the atrezzo of a photo session I made in my photography class. I had to buy some clothes, and even create two long skirts (thanks to my mother) for this session, but I wanted to create some objects for the model to hold at some point of the session.

After sketching some ideas, I wanted to add them some decorations, not all of it painted (acrylic in this case together with cardboard), such as the pearls, the lace or even the fake eyelashes... yeah, I thought it would be nice to give them some "real" eyes (I already had the idea of their eyes being closed, so, why not? :) ), I just looked for two different to give them some "personality" according with their color. By the way, the darker one is inspired in 20's and the pink one is inspired by lolita fashion.

I only had a model, one my dear classmates (poor girl, I gave her a hard time back then...love you!). She used two clothes' styles during this session: one with sweet colors and the other with darker colors. That's why I created those "lollipop" she would be holding when wearing the contrary color scheme.

Here you can see two photos that weren't chosen to give to the teacher, but that way you have an idea of their size:

Did I tell you she had to wear two different head masks during all the session? One of a white rabbit (for sweeter clothes) and another of a rat's (when wearing darker clothes). Everyone was "scared" of the rat one, because it was quite realistic, but at the end it was the one that worked the best with the photos. My classmates ended thinking it was very cool :). You can see a little of its ear in the first photo.

Maybe someday I will show some of these photos here, but for now, the focus are the "lollipops" :). I will try to show you some of the sketches I made for this session soon.

Sleepy

It's the same bear you can find here, only with some friends.

Also it's done with acrylics and Chinese ink for the background.

I just wish I could sleep right now... but I have work to do!!. I almost finished another digital illustration, and I am thinking about what to do next... I will have to choose something from my pile of sketches :).

Mr. Bear

An illustration from my new Moleskine done with acrylics and chinese ink, to play mixing different techniques. I made another illustration with this bear (not so alone) I'll try to show soon.

These last days were a little sad, and stressful, but it seems all is going to be all right now. So, I'm in a good mood!!. Also, I plan taking photos of some works I made while studying Photography that I thought you would like to see.

Little treasure

This time, it's an illustration done with thin acrylics. It's inspired by autumn, also by forests from Northern countries. And, let's face it, that wheelburrow is inspired by Matilda's movie... I loved that film back when I was a child... and I wanted one to fill it with books like she did.

Fron now on, I will try to upload here daily, and later posting it also in my Facebook Fan Page.

Swing

A drawing of a boy on a swing, though there's a little problem to get down.

For this one I used crayons, those which are for children, thick and dirty to use. I had a lot of fun! I used my fingers to expand and mix the colors... I felt like a child again! I have to use them again! I have very few of them, but enough for now. I used a Canson paper.

Presents

Something different this time.

February was a month for presents. I had two birthdays to celebrate and for both I tried to make something by hand, even if it was something small.

In this case, the present inside was purchased, so I tried to take more effort with the wrapping with what I had at hand at the moment. All is hand made except for the tag that I had lost years ago (later I wrote my friend's name there).

I had a lot of fun with it!!

This bag was for another friends present. In this case it was part of the present itself (among other things inside). So I drew my friend dressed as a little nurse because she would like to become carer in the future. At the back I drew a red cross with her name inside in black.

For this I used acrylics, rotring, lace and adhesive tape. I enjoyed it a lot because of the use of different materials

  I loved when my grandmother would knit for me, or even for my toys (and my friend's), a scarf. Handmade scarves are the better and warmer. It looked like magic, how she moved her lovely wrinkled hands and how it appeared little by little in front of her...

Sadly, she can't do it anymore, her eyes are too tired, but these memories will always keep a special place in my heart, all she did (and do) to make us happy, reading to us, cooking delicius food, playing with us, taking care of us... I love you granny!! Happy Early Birthday!

Las Ciudades Invisibles

Serie de dos ilustraciones para "Las Ciudades Invisibles" escrito por Italo Calvino, que realicé para clase.

Debíamos dibujar la misma ilustración en dos estilos diferentes:

Momo

Este es uno de los trabajos que realicé para el curso que hice de Ilustración, del segundo trimestre ilustrando el cuento de "Momo", escrito por Michael Ende. Pongo algunas de las ilustraciones que hice, las otras dos no las tengo a mano ahora.

Las dos últimas son fotografías, los orginales son en A3. No dispongo de un escáner de tales embergaduras, así que tuve que fotografiarlas. En directo se ven mejor. Además, tuve que retocarlas con ordenador para que no salieran tan desenfocadas.

En primer lugar dejo el diseño de personajes que hice para Momo. Quería crear una Momo más infantil a lo que encontré al documentarme (aunque tanteé un poco otras posibilidades). Para justamente darle esa sensación más dulce, me pareció adecuado dejarle las mangas largas arrastándose por el suelo, además de que esto reforzaba el que en el libro se decía que las mangas le quedaban muy largas. También quise utilizar un estilo muy sencillo para representarla.

Y estas son dos de las cuatro ilustraciones que llevé a cabo. En las dos empleé acrílicos y lápices acuarelables:
